Lata Krishnan Joins SVB Financial Board; Jai Pathak Leaves Jones Day
Here are a couple of international moves with some India angle. First, SVB Financial Group has got a new board member in Kerala born Lata Krishnan. SVB Financial is the parent of Silicon Valley Bank, which has a significant venture capital operations in India. Krishnan is the chief financial officer of her husband led company, Shah Capital Partners, a mid-market private equity fund with $300 million under management.
Silicon Valley Bank has made quite a few co- investments in India. It joined hands with SAIF Partners in investing in One97 Communications, partnered with Clearstone in Games2Win, Canaan Partners in i-Yogi and Sequoia Capital in TutorVista. It raised a $50 million, India dedicated fund in 2006.
Jai Pathak has joined the Los Angeles office of law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, as a partner focused on cross-border transactions in Asia and elsewhere. The firm has recently launched its Dubai office. He previously was a partner with Jones Day, where he focused on cross-border transactions with a focus on Asia. Pathak has practiced with Jones Day since 1985, where he headed the firm’s M&A practice in Los Angeles and the California region. He has previously served as head of the firm’s India practice and partner in charge of the Singapore office.
